\n
\n
\nI'm walking on thin ice, at night
\n
\nAfraid to fall inside, I need light
\n
\nWalking at the pace of ants, to slow
\n
\nThe steps I wish to take won't go
\n
\nWalking in the depth of my mind, no end
\n
\nIf I stop for a moment I fall behind instead
\n
\nThe darkness is the trust that's not there
\n
\nYour hand to lead me on you won't share
\n
\nEvery inch of me covered in worry
\n
\nYou never thought I'd be in a hurry
\n
\nI created a place to be safe, you wouldn't help me
\n
\nI created a face to hide me, so you couldn't find me
\n
\nThe bridge you were to make is unsteady
\n
\n To break if I go my way, it's not ready
\n
\nBlinded by a fog of injury
\n
\nFalling in a bog of misery
\n
\nThe ground I walked on turned to ice
\n
\nThe lights went out and I was right
\n
\nYou can't help me till you are helped
\n
\nYou can't save me, I'll save myself","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"11613243","dateCreated":"1241116219","smartDate":"Apr 30, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"sbouplon","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/sbouplon","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/northhighlibrary.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/11613243"},"dateDigested":1532427816,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"alericj poem","description":"Invictus by William Ernest Henley
\n
\nOut of the night that covers me,
\nBlack as the Pit from pole to pole,
\nI thank whatever gods may be
\nFor my unconquerable soul.
\n
\nIn the fell clutch of circumstance
\nI have not winced nor cried aloud.
\nUnder the bludgeonings of chance
\nMy head is bloody, but unbowed.
\n
\nBeyond this place of wrath and tears
\nLooms but the horror of the shade,
\nAnd yet the menace of the years
\nFinds, and shall find me, unafraid.
\n
\nIt matters not how strait the gait,
\nHow charged with punishments the scroll,
\nI am the master of my fate;
\nI am the captain of my soul.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"11613091","dateCreated":"1241115983","smartDate":"Apr 30, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"sbouplon","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/sbouplon","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/northhighlibrary.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/11613091"},"dateDigested":1532427816,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"lopezv poem","description":"My poem "A Soldier"
\n
\nA Soldier
\nThere is discipline in A Soldier
\nyou can see it when he walks,
\nThere is honor in A Soldier
\nyou hear it when he talks.
\nThere is courage in A Soldier
\nyou can see it in his eyes,
\nThere is loyalty in A Soldier
\nthat he will not compromise.
\nThere is something in A Soldier
\nthat makes him stand apart,
\nThere is strength in A Soldier
\nthat beats from his heart.
\nA Soldier isn't a title any man
\ncan be hired to do,
\nA Soldier is the soul of that man
\nburied deep inside of you.
\nA Soldier's job isn't finished after
\nan 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
\nA Soldier is always A Soldier
\neven while he sleeps.
\nA Soldier serves his country first
\nand his life is left behind,
\nA Soldier has to sacrifice what
\ncomes first in a civilian's mind.
\nIf you are civilian -
\nI am saying this to you.....
\nnext time you see A Soldier
\nremember what they do.
\nA Soldier is the reason our land
\nis 'Home of the free',
\nA Soldier is the one that is brave
\nprotecting you and me.
\nIf you are A Soldier -
\nI am saying this to you.....
\nThank God for EVERY SOLDIER
\nThank God for what YOU do!

\nSlowly, it creeps; condemning all that come upon it, unknowing.
\nThe Darkness is heavy, a crushing weight, inescapable;
\nGenerating pain and desperation indescribable.
\n
\nIn the distance there's a flower of immaculate beauty;
\nBut just beyond the enticing petals and sweet nectar,
\nThere are depraved thorns overflowing with malevolent poison.
\nIt is in this vile poison the the Darkness originates.
\n
\nBeneath the masquerading flower is an array of stars\/
\nDim pieces of light and warmth, promises of a brief reprieve
\nFrom the Darkness so desolate, from the seclusion so stark.
\nThere is hope in those dancing pinpricks, a hope for something more.
\n
\nTurning away from the deceitful flower, the stars brighten.
\nThose wondrous specks of radiance bolster the sought-after hope.
\nAware of the inattention, the flower begins to wilt.
\nThe flower declines, the Darkness starts to fade, the hope strengthens.
\n
\nThe Darkness leaves its mark as it fades, a lasting reminder;
\nThough the flower may be alluring, its poison is fatal.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":true},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
